Men vs Women

It became ever apparent of the differences between men and women a few nights ago while I was feeding Preslyn. Doug and I were talking and all of a sudden, he went silent. A few minutes passed and I asked, "What are you thinking about?"

I don't know exactly what I was expecting in response, but his reply shocked me. He said, "I could never be a sports star because of my name. Doug Gunter...it doesn't sound like someone famous. It's not like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning." I had to chuckle. Who thinks about this stuff? At the risk of creating a gross generalization-- only a man! Women, on the other hand, seem to create "to do" lists, worry about things they might forget, or a myriad of other things when they have moments of silence. Granted, I do not know the thoughts of all women, so I am basing this on the things I think about when I have down time. Yes, men get the pleasure of working on said "to do" lists and do it ever so cheerfully. (Wink, wink) But at least in our household, we do most of the items on the list side by side. Still, it can be difficult creating and remembering things to do instead of just having to do them. And if men didn't have their wives thinking about everything that needs to get done, how could they compare wife stories during lunch? (Ladies, this does happen. If you are convinced that it doesn't, then you are in complete and utter denial.)

With all this being said, sometimes it might be easier just to worry about why a name could make or break you.
