I am not a great speller. In fact, I ask Doug how to spell words all of the time. He always teases me because he is a much better speller than I am. With that being said, there are certain words that everyone should know how to spell. After reading countless blogs, Facebook posts, grocery store signs, and student papers, I've decided to educate the world. These misspellings (notice there are two s's) not only make me cringe but make countless others cringe as well. It really isn't that hard. :)
there: used as an introduction or can replace the adverbial phrase "in that place"; i.e. There is a dog over there.
their: possessive form- referring to a possession; i.e. It is their house.
they're: a contraction for they are; i.e. They're going to the park.
a lot: It is two words! The word alot does not exist.
I'd: I'd stands for I would. The word I'de also does not exist.
two: reference to a number; i.e. I have two daughters.
to: a preposition (expressing a direction, destination, or recipient); i.e. I am going to the store.
too: means "also" or "in excess"; i.e. I want to go to the mall too. I don't because I will spend too much money.
cannot: Yes, this is one word, even though can't is a contraction.
The world is watching... Happy spelling!
