Growin' like Weeds

Madi
*Madi is getting more fluent with her sentences. About three weeks ago, we were all driving out to Applebees, and Doug and I were chatting about our day at work. Madi said, "Mommy, stop talking to daddy." It was really cute. She has repeated it a few times but now adds, "Daddy, stop talking to mommy." (It isn't nearly as endearing anymore.)
*She is really into princesses as of late. She always wants to wear tutus, dresses, and fancy shoes. While dancing around the living room, she says, "I'm a princess!" or says, "Mommy, I'm so pretty."
*Today on the way to our house, she said, "Mommy, I have a question."

Braelyn
~Braelyn is growing up fast too. She has started to pull herself up and walk along the couch. Standing up is her new found love.
~She's started to talk more and more. Her favorite words are: book, cracker, Doug, and uh-oh.
~She also loves popping bubbles. One of us blows bubbles with our big bubble wand. Madi chases all of the bubbles, and then we fly Braelyn around while she tries to pop the bubbles. She giggles and giggles.

The Literal Weeds
Each Saturday that it has been sunny, we've tried to work on our yard. (Madi helps pull weeds, and Braelyn sneaks a few nibbles of dirt.) Let me tell you, it is so much easier when the yard hasn't been neglected for 45 years! We're going to start building a retaining wall in our backyard to level out the slop in one corner. As soon as that is completed, we're going to build some raised beds. I can't wait. Doug and I really want to make homemade salsa this summer from the things we've grown. We absolutely love fresh garden veggies; plus, we feel it is an important thing for little kids to experience planting, weeding, and harvesting. The next six weeks is going to be exciting!
