June 2010- The Two Funerals

On June 1, my Grandma Murray died. It was sudden but expected at the same time. While she was in and out of consciousness in the hospital, she said that she was leaving on Tuesday. Although the doctors said she wouldn't make it that long, I knew she would "leave on Tuesday." Over the weekend, I prepared myself for her death and was anticipating the phone call on Tuesday sometime. I will definitely miss her laugh.

Her funeral was on June 26, so the Thursday before, we drove up to Missoula. Although we were there for a sad reason, it was the first time my family had seen each other in a long time. Most of my family met Madi for the first time and all of my family met Braelyn for the first time. I even met some extend family I had never met before.
These are all of my cousins on my mom's side. Will, Andy, and Stephen. Will and Steven will be freshmen this year and are gearing up for football. I am really proud of Andy because he took a really bad situation- his brain tumor- and turned it into a positive one. He is now working part time on cancer research. I can't believe how much my cousins have grown.

The following Monday, my grandma was buried in Helena. We delayed our trip to Silverdale to attend the burial. I'm glad we did because we got to spend a few more hours with my extended family. This is my grandpa's tombstone. My grandma's name will be added to his.

My grandma's surviving siblings

The Wednesday before we were supposed to leave, Doug found out that Grandpa Jack died. At first, we were worried that we'd still be in Montana during the funeral, but it all worked out. We did have to skip our visit with Sharon and Rollie though. We left from Missoula to Silverdale the following Tuesday.

I stole a sibling shot with Doug, Jeff, and Allyson.
The day we got home, we were extremely tired. We all took a nap. Our peace didn't last long though because Braelyn fell out of her crib and broke her collar bone. Unfortunately, we didn't realize something was wrong until the doctor's office had closed. So off to the ER we went. By the next morning, we were so exhausted from everything, we did nothing but sit on the couch and relax!

Since school has gotten out, we've had a lot of sad situations; however, we have made the best out of these situations, and they've turned out pretty well. We are thankful for the opportunity we've had to see family.

  1. Thanks for sharing Angie. Two funerals in the same month is too much! I'm glad you got to see family in Missoula.
